Winter Prom 2015 – The ESB Spirit at Full Blast
Contributor: Saanwal Editor: Kailey
Was it a Winter Prom or a winter concert?
That’s what we have been asking ourselves since the awesome night of 28th November! If it was a concert, it definitely was worth every cent of the 30 Euros of the ticket (or 27 Euros if you got StuCo Card discount)!
Packed with loads of glamour, passion, dancing and love, this Winter Prom turned out to be one of the events that no one will ever forget!
ESB Blog catches glimpses of the
highlights of this great yearly event. . .
Great
Moderation!
Great
Moderation!
No show is complete without some
enthusiastic, exciting moderation. We were lucky to have four charismatic IB students
– Lukas, Nico, Heinz, and Kailey – doing awesome moderation throughout the event. One had to
wonder if they were the same IB students that we have known all along or were
these some moderators straight out of Oscar Awards!
What co-moderator
Lukas said aptly sums up the spirit of the whole event.
“The theme of Winter Prom 2015 is
Casino Royal.
We all are here to gamble,
But today we cannot lose.
We can only win…”
ESB student band rocked the whole
Winter Prom with Kathrin and Moritz singing a number of lovely songs. The
audience couldn’t help but present applause every single moment.
StuCo
vs IB Vision
It was a complete surprise for the
audience! In the act, StuCo played the role of “cool kids” and IB vision played
“nerds”. The situation: a classroom scene with StuCo sitting on one side and IB
Vision on the other. As soon as the professor – played by Pascal – leaves the
scene, the “cool kids” start throwing paper-balls at the “nerds”, and that
leads to the entertaining battle between StuCo and IB vision. StuCo begins by
dancing to one song and IB vision reacts by dancing to “Sexy And I Know It”. IB
Vision girls danced to Beyoncé’s 7/11, and the battle ended with both StuCo and
IB Vision performing to the typical High School Musical “We’re all in this
together”. As they danced, the effort they had put in rehearsing clearly
showed.
Saskia, an IB1 student, who has been a professional dance trainer, and Busola, were invited to the stage and applauded in advance for their brilliant choreography for the whole StuCo vs. IB Vision dance that the over 250 guests were yet to see!

A great event is never complete
without due acknowledgements to the deserving parties. Who were these amazing
people?
First and foremost, the heads of
the Organization team – wonderful Susi and Marina – were brought to stage and duly praised for
organizing an unforgettable event in a perfect way!
Then, StuCo’s legendary President –
Pia – invited the most engaged IB students on stage, and Angela – StuCo’s Head
of Finance – presented them with goody bags
(What exactly did those bags carry? Read on to find out!).
In case you wonder, those highly engaged
students, who are parts of the IB Vision Student Committees or “Ressorts” are:
1. Marlene (Strategy leader), Evelyn (co-head Orientation Ressort), Moritz (NMUN), Nils (NMUN), Lukas (NMUN), Jonathan (co-head Marketing Ressort),
Kilian (co-head Degrees Ressort), Jasmina (founder of Refugee Ressort), Lisa (co-leader Refugee Ressort), Lena (co-leader Refugee Ressort), Tessa (head of Rock Your Life) and Leonie (head of Sports Ressort).
2. IB2s: Michelle (Strategy leader), Saanwal (co-head Marketing Ressort), Julia (co-head Orientation Ressort), Vanessa (co-head Degrees Ressort),
Lena (Sales Force Ressort) and Julia (Sales Force Ressort).
The audience also applauded
all-time favorite IB Photo Ressort head, Carmelo, without whose passion
IB-memories would not be able to be made permanent!
Choosing
Prom Queen and King!
Four great nominees for Prom Queen:
Lena (IB3), Julia (IB1), Matilda (IB2), Lena (IB2).
Four great nominees for Prom King:
Kilian (IB3), Anh (IB5), Roberto (IB1), Matias (IB3).
A lot of suspense and guessing and
. . . and finally the decision came. Kailey made the biggest announcement of
the night.
Prom Queen: Lena!
Prom King: Matias!
Music
by Beethoven !
Tunes played at the grand piano
touched the audience’s hearts. The melody. The emotion. The rhythm. Kaspar is an IB6 student from Hong Kong and seems to be a truly talented pianist! Decent Dinner!
Not to forget the three-course meal that was
included in the price of the ticket. The guests first enjoyed the lovely wine
and then they had a lovely meal, which included a variety of yummy deserts.

Party. Party. Party!
By late night, the stage no longer belonged
to a few people. Everyone was a performer. The party started and the guests
were dancing right on the stage that had so far only presented great musicals
and acts. What better than dancing right on the stage?
The party went on for a long time and some
people seemed reluctant to leave even when it was 3 p.m. and the last bus was
there to take them home!

P.S. In case you wonder, the goody bags contained some delicious
chocolate and an ESB cup!
